What Does Fear Free Mean?

Fear Free Certified Pet Professionals have completed the Fear free pets course, giving them the knowledge and tools needed to help reduce stress and anxiety for your pet. Certified Professionals are required to complete several hours of continuing education per year to remain certified. 

Groomers are equipped with specialized skills to understand and identify your pets body language, allowing them to work with your pet on desensitization with in the setting. The goal for these procedures is to help your pet feel as calm and comfortable as possible. This is achieved through a combination of reward-based training and desensitization.  Our groomers will work closely with YOU and your pet to accomplish a Fear Free experience. 

As a fear free certified professional, we are able to identify your pets fear response  and will not ignore it just to get the job done. We are trained on how to use gentle touch and calming energy. We work hard to provide a  calm and relaxing environment. Your pet will receive lots of love and yummy treats. Grooming is done at the rate that your pet allows.  We work closely with you to help provided the best stress free environment starting at home. 

We care about your pets overall wellbeing.  If your pet is experiencing to much stress we may have to stop a certain procedure. For pets that experience a higher level of stress, your appointment may be broken down into multiple visits so we can work through the fears rather then overwhelm your pet. For example,  your pet may be booked in on a Monday for a bath and brush and then again with in the following days to complete the hair cut.  You pet may need to be desensitized to grooming tools and equipment. This will require a more gradual breakdown to reintroduce your pet to the source of their fear and build a positive association. 

Meet and Treats allow  us to meet your pet and introduce them to our salon in a positive way by offering them something yummy.  These are booked in a 15 min time frame and are no charge to you.  This allows us to observe your dogs response to the environment.   Your pet will receive several treats during this time. Please let us know about any allergies or sensitivities your pet has.
